America Invertida, curated by Jimmy Centeno, brings the spirit of El Sur to the doorsteps of Los Angeles, showcasing a new generation of artists including Laura V. Vasquez, Adyee Martinez, and Barbara Rivera.
The artworks featured in this exhibition are inspired by poets, writers, environmental activists, and Zapatista leaders, fostering a dialogue that transcends borders and celebrates the connection between South American cultures and US communities of color. America Invertida delves into the transborder struggle, mapping our shared experiences through literature, poetry, geography, activism, history, and the common political challenges faced by Chicanx, Latinx, and Latin America as a whole.
This collective body of work highlights the significant role of women in the social, political, and cultural movements of Latin America.
