Honoring Women in the Arts
Honoring the decade long legacy of the Woman’s Building Vesta Awards (1982-1991), Onya Hogan-Finlay and Phranc will collaborate to create the 2017 Avest Awards, a limited edition of handmade, miniature paper vest sculptures and letter pressed certificates that will be presented to 10 women in recognition of their contributions to the arts in Southern California. The awardees are: Alice Bag – Music; Amitis Motevalli – Education; Everything is Medicine – Education; Imani Tolliver – Literary Arts; Las Lunas Locas – Literary Arts; Lynn Harris Ballen – Media; Michelle Papillion – Community Activism; ProjectQ – Community Activism; Taisha Paggett – Dance; Women’s Center for Creative Work – Community Activism
Doors open at 6:45 p.m. Valet parking is available for $5 from 6:30 p.m. on. (Note: the lot will be stack parked, so if you need to leave early, this may not be your best option.) Immediately following the event will be an Evening of Women’s Music.
