Fiber

Free

“Fiber” by, Oscar Ramos Rodriguez.

“My work explores the intersections of quilting, collage and sculpture. I combine techniques such as fabric collage, piecing, applique, and quilting to create works rich in color and texture. My pieces are primarily fabric, overlaid with ‘thread-painting’, enhancing the color, texture, and detail.”

Oscar Ramos Rodriguez is a Cuban-American fiber artist based in Los Angeles, California. His work is diverse and includes art quilts and figurative painting on textile surfaces. His recent work involves creating three dimensional fabric sculptures that explore the interrelationships of space, shape and form.

Rodriguez has displayed his fabric sculptures and art quilts in several group shows throughout Los Angeles, including the Rainbow Shift exhibition in Hollywood and a dual show at the Hale Arts Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. His quilt “Azul” was featured in the American Quilters Society’s annual art show in Knoxville Tennessee.

Rodriguez is also a visual arts instructor for the Los Angeles Unified School District.
