Poet Anne Babson Carter says of the portrait and persona poems collected inside, My Zocalo Heart; “[they] hold evocative images of memory that caught and drew me close as could be possible to the world she writes of.” One finds poignant detail in the telling and retelling of stories.

Artist and writer Toti O’Brien says in her book review, “Open the book in the middle. Be careful. Something might fall off. A small miscellanea of wonders will scatter itself.”
