In the Face of Death
acrylic on canvas
36” x 36”
People of every culture have contemplated death as a defining feature of life. The fact that life ends has propelled the creation of mythologies, and spurred the development of ethical codes. This work concerns the particular aspect of death that has inspired the best among us to act in such a way as to ensure that their lives had meaning.
“What is this ‘meaning’ of which you speak?“ That is for the viewer to decide.
