These paintings are arrangements of form and color drawn upon distant memories from the island of Sicily. Intuitive landscapes. They are improvisations of mountains and buildings, flora and sea. Beneath the pulsating colors are hidden paths and trails buried in the search for compositional clarity. It is an exhilarating process. Not knowing. Getting lost. Finding your way home.
“We are Achaeans coming from Troy, beaten off our true course by winds from every direction across the great gulf of the open sea, making for home, by the wrong way, on the wrong courses. So we have come. So it has pleased Zeus to arrange it.” (The Odyssey)
