ARROYO ARTS COLLECTIVE SPACE presents
“SO YOU SAY YOU WANNA REVOLUTION?”
BetZ Ross, Connie Rohman and Alden Marin are patriots, dedicated to the ideals that this country was founded on, including the separation of church and state, free speech, free press, the equality of all people, the right to vote, and the rule of law. These principles, once beacons to the rest of the world, are under vicious attack from cynical, corrupt and monied interests in America today.
In “Thus Always to Tyrants and Traitors” BetZ Ross has created an entirely handstitched tapestry, reminding the viewer of the spirit of our Founding Fathers and that under the Constitution and 18 U.S. Code § 2381:
Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death …
Rohman’s piece exhorts us to “Be Courageous” as spelled out in marine signal flags, beautiful and inspirational.
Marin’s sly reflections on the American flag, and all that it symbolizes, goad the viewer to reflect on injustices, great and small.
