“The Caridad Project — With Everyone and for the Good of Some/Para Todos y El Bien de Unos Cuantos”
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, Sculptor
Tanya Lucia Bernard, Photgrapher
Luis Manuel Otero Alcántara, fine artist living and working in Havana, Cuba and Tanya Lucia Bernard, fine artist living and working in Los Angeles, pilgrimaged across Cuba in a performance art piece that launched this past September. They began in Havana with a destination point of Santiago de Cuba wheeling a 6’5” tall sculptural representation of the Patron Saint of Cuba, ‘La Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre.’ The documentary photographic journal in our Annex Room explores Luis and Tanya’s months-long trek.
