“Dear Chavela” : the book launch

Dr. Daniel A. Castro is an educator who has served as college president/superintendent at both Riverside City College, and Los Angeles Trade Technical College. For 16 years he produced, and was the voice behind, The Sancho Show on public radio. His show stressed the importance of education to the Chicano community. He also produced the Chicano Music Awards, which raised funds to keep young people in higher education. Although retired, Dr. Castro continues to teach Sociology part-time at East Los Angeles College. He resides in Pasadena with his wife Dr. Consuelo Castro, also a community college instructor and his partner in keeping young people in school.
